HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 1000 FIRST READING SECOND READING 1/1/81 8/18/81 ORDINANCE NUMBER 1000 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE LEVY OF OCCUPATIONAL TAXES UPON INSURANCE COMPANIES ENGAGING IN BUSINESS WITHIN THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. e WHEREAS, the governing body of a municipality may levy an occupational license tax for the privilege of engaging in or man- aging any business, profession or occupation within its jurisdic- tion, pursuant to Florida Statutes Chapter 205.042; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Ocoee, Florida, wishes to levy an occupational tax upon insurers, insurance agencies, agents and others who do business wi thin the Ci ty of Ocoee; NOW, THEREFORE, be it enacted by the Mayor and City Commis- sion of the City of Ocoee, Florida that: Section 1. Stat., Chapter 626, having an office in or doing business in the City for or on behalf of any person or prop- erty residing or located within the Ci ty .................................... $ 50.00 1El Each insurance agent, including each e general lines agent, life agent and health agent, solicitor, adjuster, ser- vice representative and managing general agent, as defined in Fla. Stat., Chapter 626, having an office in or doing busi- ness in the City for or on behalf of any person or property residing or located wi thin the City ......................... $ 50.00 Section 2. The collection and enforcement of the fees pro- vided for herein shall be in accordance with federal and state law, and the City of Ocoee Code of Ordinances. Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in con- flict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 4. If any section or portion of this ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional, it shall not invalidate or impair the validity, force or effect of any other section or portion of this ordinance.
