HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 962 ORDINANCE NO. 962 FIRST READING: 3-17-87 SECOND READING: 3-17-87 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA PROVIDING FOR A NINETY (90) DAY MORATORIUM ON THE ERECTION OF BILLBOARDS IN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF OCOEE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission desires a ninety (90) day period of time during which the City Commission and staff may study the problem of an increasing number of billboards being erected within the city limits in an unsightly manner and without benefit of a uniform regulation; and . WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to reserve time in which to draft an appropriate ordinance to regulate the erection of billboards in the city limits of Ocoee before any other billboards are erected; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of Ocoee, Florida has determined it to be in the best interest of the city to enact an emergency ordinance prohibiting the erection of any billboards in the City of Ocoee for a ninety (90) day period. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COMMISSION OF OCOEE, FLORIDA, HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION I. That pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 166.041(3)(b), providing for the enactment of an emergency ordinance, the City of Ocoee, Florida hereby establishes a ninety (90) day moratorium on the erection of billboards within the city limits of Ocoee, Florida. SECTION II. That no billboard shall be erected in the city of Ocoee during this ninety (90) day period. SECTION III. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION IV. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its approval and passage.
