Background Summary: On September 16, 2003, Resolution No. 2003-21, was adopted creating the Human Relations and Diversity Board, requiring no less than seven (7) members and no more than fifteen (15). The Resolution was then amended by Resolution 2004-11, which changed the quorum requirement to 50% plus 1. The two-year term of Fay Alston will expire in May. The member has indicated she is willing to serve another term, if reappointed. The current request for reappointment not withstanding, there is currently one vacancy on the board and no pending applications. Issue: Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners reappoint the member to serve another two-year term on the Human Relations and Diversity Board ending May 2012? Recommendations Staff recommends that the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners reappoint Fay Alston to serve another two- year term on the Human Relations and Diversity Board ending May 2012.
