Subject: Appointment to the Police Officer's and Firefighter's Retirement Trust Fund Board of
Trustees.
Background Summary:
Trustees for the Police Officer's and Firefighter's Retirement Trust Fund Board now serve four-year terms, as
amended in Ordinance 2010-018. The City Commission appoints two of the trustees from applications received,
two are elected from the employee body (one police officer and one firefighter), and the fifth trustee is chosen by
those four trustees and presented to the City Commission for certification of the appointment as a ministerial act.
Trustee Robert Wayne Vaughn has indicated he is not interested in serving another term. Currently there are
three applications on file. Mr. William Maxwell, Mr. Scott Blynder, and Mr. John Grogan have all indicated an
interest in serving on this board.
Issue:
Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners appoint one of the following: William Maxwell, Scott
Blynder, or John Grogan as Trustee for the Police Officer's and Firefighter's Retirement Trust Fund Board of
Trustees with a term ending September 30, 2014?
Recommendations
Staff recommends that the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners appoint one of the following: William
Maxwell, Scott Blynder, or John Grogan as Trustee for the Police Officer's and Firefighter's Retirement Trust Fund
Board of Trustees with a term ending September 30,2014.

Charles Brown, Chairman
Fire & Police Pension Board
Ocoee, FL
Dear Charles,
This letter is to confirm my verbal resignation from the Fire & Police Pension Board that
was announced at the August 4, 2010 meeting,
My resignation, I feel, is for the betterment of the board. At this point, I just do not have
the time necessary to extend my education and make the required training session and
conferences.
As I said in my resignation, it has been a pleasure serving on the board. I am impressed
with the professionalism the board displays and will enjoy the opportunity to sit in the
audience in the near future.
Respectfully submitted,
72cwr~
Robert Wayne Vaughn
