HELD JULY 22, 1975
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Bowness, Carter, McRobert, Lait,
Brooklyn and Turner.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Thomas.
Meeting was called to order at 7:45 P. M. by Chairman
Bowness.
1. James S. Watson appeared before the Board requesting
a change of zoning on property located on the northeast corner
of Bluford and Silver Star Road. The property is presently
zoned (R -1AA) for residential purposes. Mr. Watson indicated
that due to the noise in the area he is having difficulty rent-
ing the property for residential use.
Mr. Turner motioned to the intent of changing said property
to C -1 and set a date for public hearing on August 12th. Dis-
till. was held on streets, traffic and type of business the
C -1 zoning would be able to utilize. Mr. McRobert seconded
Mr. Turner's motion.
Mr. Turner changed his motion for a public hearing from
August 12th to August the 26th. Vote unanimous. Motion carried.
2. Mr. Crosby came before the Board requesting a change
of zoning on his property (located North 467.79 ft. of the East
468 Feet of Block F, in Seegar Subdivision) from R -1 to A -1.
Mr. Crosby stated that said property has ten acres with
a mobile home established on it and that he recently received
a letter from the City saying he must vacate the area since
he did not comply with the regulations for temporary usage of
a mobile home and did not obtain a permit to build a house.
Mr. Carter requested that the Board give an extension of
two years on the permit and leave that property (1 trailer and
10 acres only) zoned R -1.
Mr. Crosby told the Board that he wanted to completely
enclose his trailer by building onto it and questioned whether
or not it would be legal to do so under the R -1 zoning.
1 Discussion was then held on the legality of giving an
extension under either zoning (R -1 or A -1). Mr. Lait read
the zoning ordinance granting the usages permitted on review
under R -1 zoning. The Board told Mr. Crosby that he would
need 1000 sq. ft of living area in order to comply with the R -1
specifications and that he would be able to obtain such by adding
onto his mobile home. The Board then told Mr. Crosby that he
would have have a public hearing and to apply for use permitted
on review.
Mr. Carter motioned for a public hearing to be held on
August the 26th. Mr. Brooklyn seconded. Vote unanimous.
Being no further business, Mr. McRobert motioned to adjourn.
Mr. Lait seconded. Meeting adjourned at 8:45 P. M.
Respectfully submitted,
Esther L. Fannin
