HomeMy WebLinkAboutBOA 01-28-1976 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT HELD JANUARY 28, 1976 am PRESENT: Thomas, Garlington, Maxie, Rhodes and Marsden. ABSENT: None. Meeting was called to order by Mr. Marsden at 7:45 P. M. 1. Discussion was brought up on electing a chairman, vice - chairman and secretary to the Board of Adjustment. Mr. Garlington motioned to appoint Glen Thomas to the position of chairman. Cliff Rhodes seconded. Vote unanimous. Motion carried. Mr. Rhodes motioned to appoint Jack Marsden to the position of vice - chairman. Motion seconded by Mr. Garlington. Vote unanimous. Motion carried. Mr. Maxie motioned to appoint City Clerk as secretary of the Board. Mr. Rhodes seconded. Vote unanimous. Motion carried. 2. Attorney Ken Oswald came before the Board representing Charter Land and Housing on Petition #76 -1, a petition for a variance to reduce the square footage requirements of the area zoned R1 -A from 1,200 to 1,000 sq. ft. and the area zoned R1 -AA on the lakefront from 1,400 to 1,200 sq. ft. in Twin Lake Manor Sub - Division. Mr. Oswald indicated to the Board that some corrections needed to be made in the wording of the petition. He stated that page 2 of said petition referring to the reduction of lots from 71/2 ft. to 2 ft. should be deleted and that lots 52, 53, 67, 68, 69 and 70 should be deleted from said petition also. Following much discussion, Mr. Thomas asked for comments from the audience. Mr. Abbott Gillispie from the audience presented a petition with (45) forty -five signatures of those living within the sub - division opposing said petition. After hearing the comments of those in the audience, Mr. Rhodes motioned to deny the petition to protect the people and standards of the City. Mr. Maxie seconded. Mr. Thomas asked for a showing of hands of those on the Board who opposed the petition. Four were in favor of rejecting said petition. Motion unanimously carried.
