PRESENT: CHAIRMAN BOWNESS, MEMBERS BROOKLYN, McROBERT, CARTER, TURNER
ABSENT: PECK, THOMAS
Meeting was called to order by Chairman Bowness at 7:32 P. M.
1. Mr. Bob Johnson from FMC addressed Board requesting permission to graze cattle on
grounds surrounding FMC plant. He explained that the cost of mowing grounds is $2,000.
per year and they would like to cut overhead in this manner. Mr. Carter asked Mr.
Johnson if FMC would consider leasing a portion of that property to the City for $1.00
per year for a softball field. This would relieve FMC of having to mow that much of
the land as the City would be taking care of that portion they leased. Chairman
Bowness suggested that Mr. Johnson approach FMC with the proposition and return before
the Poard at the meeting two weeks from tonight.
City Manager briefed the Board on the yearly budget.
Mr. McRobert moved to accept minutes of the July 27, 1976 meeting as read. Seconded
by Mr. Carter. Unanimous.
Building Inspector Cecil Hurst requested clarification on several points in the
Zoning Ordinance, specifically Section 5, Paragraph 5.2, Page 22 regarding air condi-
tioner compressors on set back. Mr. McRobert recommended the Board request Commission
have lawyer rewrite that portion of Zoning Ordinance, as it is the custom to not have
that restriction.
Mr. Hurst also asked if citizens were permitted to construct fences across easements.
He was advised that they were permitted to.(Reference Section 3, Paragraph 2, Open
Space, Zoning Ordinance.)
Chairman Bowness stated for the record that the terms of members Carter, Thomas, and
Turner expire this September.
