HomeMy WebLinkAboutPZ 02-13-1979 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD HELD FEBRUARY 13, 1979 i r Present: Brooklyn, Timbes, Rodgers, Hager, McRobert Absent: Bowness, Lait, Thomas, Carter Meeting called to order at 7:35 P.M. by Mr. Timbes. I. Acceptance of Minutes Mr. Brooklyn moved to accept minutes as written from meetings held January 9th, 16th and 30th. Mr. Rodgers seconded. Vote unanimous. II. Public Hearing - Petition 79 -1 Mr. Jimmy Roper appeared before the Board in behalf of Petition 79 -1, requesting a zoning change from R -3 to C -3 for the purpose of an auto auction for dealers. The property is located on Story Road, Wofford Road and Highway 50. Mr. McRobert asked if there were any objections from the audience to the zoning requested. No objectors were present. Mr. Rodgers moved to recommend to Council to accept the zoning change as stated. Mr. McRobert seconded. Vote unanimous. III. Open Forum Mr. John Timbes, member of the Planning and Zoning Board, using maps and diagrams, showed residents of the older section of Ocoee existing zoning and improvements in the City and requested citizens suggestions for future improvements. The following are suggestions from citizens in attendance: 1. Keep Ocoee a small town. 2. Strictly residential. 3. More recreation. 4. Eliminate industrial. 5. More commercial zoning in town. 6. Moderazation to growth, no trucking traffic, small businesses only. 7. Limited growth to small homes. 8. Opposed to city -wide sewerage such as that of Winter Garden. 9. Drain ditch along Bluford. 10. Plant trees around Starke Lake. 11. Build boat ramp for Starke Lake. 12. Need a blend of zoning. 13. Widen and extend Story Rd. 14. Load limit on trucks. 15. Eliminate noise nuisance of trucks coming down Bluford. 16. Beautify and preserve the downtown area. 17. Eliminate car lot on corner of Bluford to beautify downtown area. 18. Preserve old schoolhouse. 19. Provide adequate parking facilities in downtown area. 20. If recreational facility is constructed, maintain it by proper authorized personnel. 21. Provide leash laws .tpr uncontrolled animals. 22. Relocate City Garage to eliminate noise and beautify area for a park. imme 23. Opposed to airport. 24. Zone Silver Star Rd. for professional businesses. 25. Eliminate problems of teenagers on streets and provide a place for them to go (such as old schoolhouse). 26. Restock Starke Lake with fish. 27. Build sidewalks around Starke Lake. 28. R1AAA zoning is too high, 1,600 sq. ft. living area requirement should be decreased. Meeting adjourned at 9:45 P. M.
