)V5{EREA , everyday, our Nation's dedicated law enforcement officer's put
themselves at risk to keep their fellow Americans safe. These men and
women from the largest cities to our quiet communities here in Orange
County selflessly risk their lives to protect our families against crime; and
7'KYi E.RR.A.S As we observe Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week, we pay
tribute to the courageous men and women who wear the badge and keep
the peace; and
)'Y. 1.E ?2L4S Law enforcement officers of today carry on the long and proud tradition
of service built by their predecessors with valor and distinction, they stand
w watch over us all and work hard to fight crime and violence; and
�V. .r4 , 3 3'�'R 2 Law enforcement officers deserve our appreciation for the work they do,
which is to help people on a daily basis; and
7V.31.E'R2.i.5; n Peace Officers Memorial Day and during Police Week, we honor the
heroism of all our law enforcement officers, especially those who have
given their lives so others might live; and
3V3TER AS, They have performed their jobs with extraordinary distinction, and we
will always remember their service and sacrifice. We ask God's blessings
for the families and friends they left behind.

vmei.e, Citizens of the City of Ocoee recognize the vital role that swimming and
aquatic- related activities to good physical and mental health and
enhance the quality of life for all people; and
irjbeia.Q):, The citizens of the City of Ocoee understand the essential role that
education regarding the topic of Water Safety plays in preventing
drownings and recreational water - related injuries; and
VW/Bat , The City of Ocoee is aware of the contributions made by the
recreational water industry in developing safe swimming facilities,
aquatic programs, home pools and spas, and related activities providing
healthy places to recreate, learn and grow, build self - esteem, confidence
and sense of self -worth which contributes tot the quality of life in our
community; and
VW/ Q(r , The citizens of the City of Ocoee recognize the ongoing efforts and
commitments of the Ocoee Parks and Recreation Department to educate
the public on pool and spa safety issues and initiatives by the pool, spa,
waterpark, recreation and parks industries; and
IMQBat, The citizens of the City of Ocoee understand the vital importance of
communicating Water Safety rules and programs to families and
individuals of all ages, whether owners of private pools, users of public
swimming facilities, or visitors to waterparks.
Zoo 74etejoae, Therefore, I, S. Scott Vandergrift, Mayor of the City of Ocoee,
do hereby proclaim the Month of May, 2011 as
NATIONAL WATER SAFETY MONTH
in the City of Ocoee, and urge all citizens to support and promote this
observance. FURTHER, I urge all citizens to learn to swim, never swim alone,
follow posted rules around the pools and lakes, supervise children around
water, and to always be water aware.
