M ati 'Whereas, the Department of Homeland Security has designated September as ��,o National Preparedness Month across America; and 'Whereas, ereas, National Preparedness Month is an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of emergency preparedness and to encourage all Americans to better prepare their homes and communities for emergencies. "Whereas, National Preparedness Month is also an opportunity to pay tribute to America's first responders who put themselves at risk for the safety of their fellow citizens. These brave Law Enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency service personnel exemplify the compassion and commitment n�,� that help strengthen our country. -/'►' hereas, In the event of any natural disaster, large -scale emergency or terrorist attack, America's first line of defense is provided by first responders, including local Law Enforcement, firefighters and emergency medical professionals, who, when properly trained and equipped, have the greatest potential to save lives and limit casualties after a disaster or terrorist %% attack; and /1 rtereas, National Preparedness Month focuses on family emergency preparedness and encourages Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies ��,v in their homes, businesses and schools; and * Whereas, The City of Ocoee encourages citizens to make plans with and for their family members as to where to take shelter should a cascading event become eminent and to make plans as to where to meet should family members become separated; and / ereas, The City of Ocoee risk assessments include events that could cause disruption of Life supporting services citizens are encouraged to develop to go kits with supplies to support each family member and pet for a 72 hour period. 0 / (4244 eT4.4.0 I, Scott Vandergrift, Mayor of the City of Ocoee, do hereby proclaim September as Ziner en flrpareine s s Monti and encourage all citizens and organizations to take action to become prepared for any disaster or emergency.
