Background Summary:
Upon the adoption of Resolution No. 2013 -007, Members of the Human Relations Diversity Board will serve three -
year terms. The Resolution provides that the Human Relations Diversity Board membership shall consist of
thirteen (13) members.
The terms of Members Jennifer Hopkins, Rose -Nancy Joseph, William Maxwell and Michelle Turner will expire on
May 2013. During the April 4 th HRDB meeting, Rose -Nancy Joseph expressed her desire to not be reappointed to
the board, leaving one (1) vacancy on the board. There are currently two applications on file from Sandria Foster
and Margaretta McKenzie. Members Hopkins, Maxwell and Turner have indicated an interest in being considered
for reappointment for another term ending May 2016.
From 2011 -2012 Member Hopkins attended 17 of 24 meetings, Member Maxwell attended 21 of 24 meetings, and
Member Turner attended 11 of 13 meetings.
Issue:
Should the honorable Mayor and City Commission reappoint Jennifer Hopkins, William Maxwell and Michelle
Turner to the Human Relations Diversity Board with a term ending May 2016, and consider appointing Sandria
Foster or Margaretta McKenzie to the Human Relations Diversity Board with a term ending May 2016?
Recommendations
Staff is recommending that the City Commission reappoint Jennifer Hopkins, William Maxwell, and Michelle Turner
to the Human Relations Diversity Board with term ending May 2016, and consider appointing Sandria Foster or
Margaretta McKenzie to the Human Relations Diversity Board with term ending May 2016?
