Applications for all cameras have been sent to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and two (2) of the locations need further discussion. FDOT has requested that the construction of the cameras on SR 50 at Blackwood Avenue and SR 50 at Maguire Road by delayed due to the road widening project. It is projected that construction will occur within the next year and the cameras will have to be removed due to the road construction. These two (2) locations are no longer feasible and two (2) other locations should be considered. Based on studies of red -light violations and traffic crash data, the following intersections are recommended for camera placement: Northbound Ocoee Apopka Road a Silver Star Road (District 3/ Commissioner Johnson) Westbound Silver Star Road a Clarke Road (Districts 2 and 4/ Commissioners Wilsen and Keller) Other intersections to be considered: Southbound Ocoee - Apopka Road @ Silver Star Road (District 3/ Commissioner Johnson) Ocoee Crown Point Road @ Ocoee - Apopka Road (District 1/ Commissioner Grogan) Westbound Silverstar Road @ Bluford Avenue (Districts 2 and 3/ Commissioners Wilson and Johnson) Issue: Should the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners approve staff recommendation for new red -light camera placement? Recommendations It is recommended that the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners approve staff recommendation for new red -light camera placement. Attachments: None Financial Impact: The cameras and operation of the program are paid for by the red -light violators through fines. The City receives $75.00 per violation paid for cameras located on local roadways and $70.00 per violation paid for cameras located on State roadways. There has not been a negative financial impact for the current program as the program has always been funded by the violators who run red - lights.
