Background Summary: The City of Ocoee, Parks and Recreation Department, received notification on June 17, 2013 from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services that it has qualified for a grant totaling $91,500 for the replacement of the sport lighting at one of the baseball fields located in Central Park. The conditions of the awarding of the grant include the work must be completed by August 30, 2013. Therefore, given the extreme time limitations of completing the work in accordance to the grant program, the Parks and Recreation Department needs to receive authorization for the Mayor to sign the grant agreement between the City and Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Energy Efficient Lighting Grant Program, when finalized in the next week. Issue: Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commission authorize the Mayor to sign the Energy Efficient Lighting Grant Program agreement between the City of Ocoee and Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services? The department has determined that your application has met the threshold requirements for the reservation process to be eligible for funding. Department staff will contact you to discuss the next steps in the award process. Please be aware that this is not a guarantee of funding as department staff will still need to verify the information in your application prior to final determination of eligibility. As required by Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA), Part V, Section C: "department staff may conduct sites visit prior to awards which could affect the timeline for execution of the Grant Agreements."
