HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-21-00 Minutes SS MINUTES OF THE OCOEE CITY COMMISSION SPECIAL SESSION HELD NOVEMBER 21, 2000 Mayor Vandergrift called the Special Session to discuss settlement negotiations for the municipal complex to order at 6:30 p.m. in the Commission Chambers. The roll was called and a quorum was declared present. PRESENT: Mayor Vandergrift, Commissioners Anderson and Howell. Also present were City Manager Ellis Shapiro, Special Counsel Stephen M. Bull, Special Counsel Mario Romero and City Clerk Grafton. ABSENT: Commissioners Johnson and Parker DISCUSSION RE: SETTLEMENT NEGOTIATIONS Mayor Vandergrift announced that Special Counsel Bull had previously requested a closed session with the City Commission to discuss settlement negotiations in the case described as Settlement Negotiations, Case No. CI 98-1332 - City of Ocoee vs. C.T. Hsu & Associates, P.A., Huber Design and Construction, Inc., and Great American Insurance Company, et al. He said it was estimated that the closed attorney-client session would last forty-five minutes. Following the conclusion of the attorney-client session, the meeting would be reopened in order to announce the termination of the closed session and take such other action as the City Commission may deem appropriate. Mayor Vandergrift asked the City Commission to move into closed session. RECONVENE PUBLIC MEETING FOR ACTION ON ABOVE ISSUES Consideration/Action of Proposed Settlement Mayor Vandergrift reopened the Special Meeting of the City Commission and announced that the closed attorney-client session was terminated at 7:01 p.m. He asked for comments or any proposed actions from the City Commission. Commissioner Anderson. second by Commissioner Howell. moved to accept Special Counsel Stephen M. Bull's recommendation. Motion carried 3-0. Commissioners Johnson and Parker were not present. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 7:02 p.m.
