HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-03-1980MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OCOEE HELD 3 JUNE 80 Mayor Freeman called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. and the meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Present were Comm. Lyle, Hager, Whitehead and Stinnett; City Manager, Vignetti; City Attorney, Rhodes; and City Clerk, Gann. 20 MAY 80 COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES Minutes of the 20 May 80 Commission meeting were read. Comm. Whitehead moved to approve the minutes as read, seconded Comm. Hager. Unanimous. ZONING BOARD DID NOT MEET ORDINANCE - ZONING CHANGE R1A TO Rl NORTH SPRINGDALE PROPERTY -1ST READ Comm. Stinnett moved that ordinance be read by title only, seconded Comm. Lyle. Unanimous. City Manager read ordinance by title only. Public Hearing and second reading of the ordinance will be held on 17 June 80. LAKE OLYMPIC PROJECT - CITY ATTORNEY City Attorney stated he felt that Dr. Ferdinand had fulfilled the request made by the commission. Comm. Lyle moved that Mayor Freeman sign the plat, seconded Comm. Hager. Unanimous. RESOLUTION - DECLARING JUNE 8TH AS "EVELYN NEWBERG DAY" City Manager read the resolution in its entirety. Comm. Whitehead moved to adopt the resolution, seconded Comm. Stinnett. Unanimous. D.O.T. RAIL ROAD SIGNAL SAFETY PROGRAM -CITY MANAGER City Manager reminded council that D.O.T. had requested that the city pay one -half of the cost of maintaining certain railroad crossings in the city. City Manager informed council that there was a Bill before the Legislature which if passeal will require the railroad to pay the entire cost of maintaining the crossings and he was recommending that council delay action on the D.O.T. request until this bill is acted on. Comm. Lyle moved to accept the City Managers recommendation, seconded Comm. Whitehead. Unanimous. CEMETERY ENTRANCE SIGN - CITY MANAGER City Manager presented a drawing of the proposed cemetery entrance sign. Council instructed the City Manager to try and design a sign for the cemetery entrance that does not have to go across the road. REPORTS /INFORMATION City Manager stated that a french drain had been constructed at Hawaii and Alaska Drive. City Manager reported that the Brentwood Entrance sign had been painted. City Manager stated that the City Engineer, Walter Kuhrt had given him a ball park figure of $15,000.00 for engineering cost to pave Bowness Road.
