HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-04-1980MINUTES OF THE CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF THE CITY OF OCOEE HELD 4 NOVEMBER 80 Mayor Freeman called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. and the meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Present were Comm. Lyle, Stinnett, Whitehead & Hager; City Manager, Vignetti; City Attorney, Rhodes; and City Clerk, Gann. 21 OCTOBER 80 COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES Minutes of 21 October 80 Commission meeting were read. Comm. Lyle stated that on page one paragraph six of the minutes his motion to change:the name of Sleepy Harbor II Development was to exclude all references to Sleepy Harbor. Comm. Hager moved to accept the minutes as corrected, seconded Comm. Whitehead. Unanimous. PLANNING & ZONING BOARD DID NOT MEET J.B. BERNARD LAND PURCHASE DETAILS -CITY MANAGER City Manager stated he had met with Mr. Bernard and Mr. Bernard had agreed to sell the property (approximately 5 acres) to the city for $6,000 per acre and after the purchase Mr. Bernard will donate $1,000 per acre back to the city. Mr. Bernard further requested the following: (1.) Survey of property in question at expense of city (2) 6' fence erected between his property & property city wants to purchase. (3) Proceeds of this years fruit. (4) 1st payment before end of December 1980 (5) 2nd payment January 1981 Comm. Lyle moved to proceed with the purchase as outlined above, seconded Comm. Whitehead. Unanimous. REPORTS /INFORMATION City Manager reported on meeting held with representatives from D.O.T, S.C.L. and the city regarding railroad crossing on A.D. Mims Road. City Manager stated that the owners of the 500 acres on A.D. Mims Road were trying to obtain a railroad crossing. The representatives from the railroad had stated they would not grant this to private owners but they indicated they would consider giving it to the city. City Manager reported that the 10" water main crossing the canal had been completed. Comm. Stinnett moved to pay $36,034 for the street sweeper from the Federal Revenue Sharing Fund, seconded Comm. Whitehead. Unanimous. Adjusted certified taxable value of property in the city has not been received as of this date. Canvassing Board meets at 12 :00 noon, 5 November 80. MEETING ADJOURNED 7:50 P.M. MA Y ATTEST: MINUTES OF THE CITY OF OCOEE CANVASSING BOARD MEETING HELD 5 NOVEMBER 1980 Mayor Freeman called the Canvassing Board meeting to order at 12:00 Noon. Present were Canvassing Board members Lyle, Stinnett, & Whitehead; City Manager, Vignetti; City Attorney, Rhodes; and City Clerk, Gann. Comm. Hager was absent. Mayor Freeman stated that this meeting had been called for the purpose of counting the absentee ballots. City Manager stated there were 55 absentee ballots of which 5 had been discarded because they were improperly filled out. SEAT #3 PEARSE, FRANK 519 21 540 WHITEHEAD, LEWIS 798 29 827 No one present wished to inspect the absentee ballots. Comm. Stinnett moved to accept the absentee ballots, seconded Comm. Whitehead. Unanimous. A run -off election needs to be held between Jim Gant and Comm. Stinnett. Comm. Lyle moved to hold the run -off election Wednesday, 12 November 80 in the City Hall, seconded Comm. Whitehead. Unanimous. Meeting adjourned at 12:24 P.M. After the meeting Robert Lyle and Lewis Whitehead were sworn into office by Mayor Freeman. ATTEST: ' - 0- • C,.O-, CITY LERK MINUTES OF THE CITY OF OCOEE CANVASSING BOARD MEETING HELD 13 NOVEMBER 1980 Mayor Freeman called the Canvassing Board meeting to order at 12:00 noon. Canvassing Board members present were Lyle, Stinnett & Whitehead; City Manager Vignetti; City Attorney, Rhodes; and City Clerk, Gann. Comm. Hager was absent. Mayor Freeman explained that this meeting was being held to count the absentee ballots and to certify the machine results. The votes were as follows CANDIDATES COMM. SEAT #2 GANT, JIM STINNETT, W.E. (BILL) 210 335 -0- 4 210 339 No one present wished to examine the four absentee ballots. Comm. Whitehead moved to accept the absentee ballots, seconded Comm. Lyle. Unanimous. Comm. Lyle moved to accept the machine count, seconded Comm. Whitehead. Unanimous. MEETING ADJOURNED AT 12:05 P.M. After the meeting W.E. (Bill) Stinnett was sworn into office by Mayor Freeman.
