HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-09-1983 Canvassing Board Minutes MINUTES OF THE CITY OF OCOEE CANVASSING BOARD MEETING HELD NOVEMBER 9, 1983 Mayor Goff called the meeting to order at 12:08 pm in the City Commission Chambers. Present were Canvassing Board members Hager, Cook, Rodgers, City Manager Burgess, City Attorney Rhodes, and Deputy Clerk Grafton. Absent: Canvassing Board Member Lyle. Mayor Goff announced that this meeting had been called for the purpose of counting the absentee ballots. City Manager advised that there had been 20 absentee ballots requested, but that only 18 of them had been returned to City Hall. Seat #4 Mayor's Seat Bruce Beatty William Goff Thomas Ison 322 240 384 6 4 6 328 244 390 Two of the Absentee Ballots were discovered to be invalid due to the voter's failure to comply with the instructions to place their ballot inside of a plain sealed envelope prior to placing same inside the Absentee Ballot envelope. Mayor Goff declared the winner for Seat #4 to be Vard J. Hager, and then declared this to be a special meeting for the purpose of establishing the run off date for the Mayor's seat between Mr. Beatty and Mr. Ison. Commissioners waived notice and the meeting proceeded. The date for the runoff election will be Tuesday, November 22, 1983. The polling place mutually agreed upon was the Ocoee Community Center at 125 Lakeshore Drive. The Election Clerks will be the same at those that served during the Regular City Election on November 8, 1983. The meeting adjourned at 12:21 pm.
