RESOLUTION NO. 2003-04
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA PETITIONING THE
ORANGE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD TO NAME THE NEW HIGH
SCHOOL TO BE BUILT ON THE COCA COLA PROPERTY, OCOEE HIGH
SCHOOL, PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Orange County Public School Board (hereinafter known as the
Board) plans to construct a new high school to be built on a 60-acre site on School Board
Land in the Coca-Cola Property in the City of Ocoee; and
WHEREAS, this new school will mark the return of a high school to be located
within Ocoee; and
WHEREAS, students formerly served by Ocoee High School were transferred to
Lakeview High School and subsequently to West Orange High School; and
WHEREAS, many other Orange County schools (such as Ocoee Elementary
School, Gotha Middle School, Windermere Elementary School, and Apopka Elementary
School) have been named after the cities or communities in which they are located; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of Ocoee desires to have the new school to be
considered as a replacement for and named Ocoee High School,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF OCOEE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Commission hereby formally petitions the Board to
name the aforesaid new school as "Ocoee High School."
SECTION 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by
the Ocoee City Commission.
