Subject: Floral Street Improvements. Commissioner Johnson, District 3.
Background Summary:
Public Works had identified Floral Street for curb line reconstruction to improve the flow of storm water
draining to the existing curb inlets and also for installation of a sidewalk to improve the pedestrian
access throughout the city center. The Public Works Team determined combining these two
improvements into a single project reduces the total construction time and associated costs while
accomplishing the improvements.
Public Works solicited pricing from the contractors on the City's Small Construction Projects Term
Contract. Four (4) contractors responded with the low bid below the Engineer's estimate. Public Works
recommends awarding the project to the low bidder, Schuller Contractors, Inc., in the amount of
$25,560.00. The project has a forty five (45) calendar day duration and is funded under the Stormwater
Division's Miscellaneous Small Projects and Streets Divisions Capital Sidewalk Improvements.
Issue:
Request the City Commission approve award of Floral Street Improvements Project to Schulte
Contractors, Inc.
Recommendations:
Recommend approval to award the Floral Street Improvements Project to Schuller Contractors, Inc. for
$25,560.00 based on pricing solicited through the City's Small Construction Projects Term Contract
RFP11 -004, and authorize City Manager to execute any change orders up to the limits in the approved
purchasing code.
Attachments:
Floral Street Improvements Price Quotes.
Floral Street Improvements Plan Sheet.
Financial Impact:
The project is adequately funded through the Public Works' Stormwater Division's Miscellaneous Small
Projects ($15,560.00) and Streets Division's Capital Sidewalk Improvements ($10,000.00).
