HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-04-14 Proclamation - Adoption MonthI kN f ida CDCYaY11atlDl Rccording to the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, there are approximately 153 million orphans around the world; and Mile adoptions are available in the United States, many search to complete their family abroad; and U1f_)C33xCf, 3Jn years past, Americans adopted the highest number of children from China, including families like the Poche family, who reside in Ocoee and adopted from China and Taiwan; and 3foe and Robin Poche started their family with the adoption of their daughter, Natalie, from China in 2005. They were thankful to complete their family with the adoption of their son, Nicholas, from Taiwan in 2009; and ,families in Ocoee, like the Poche family, are providing loving homes for children without families. These types of family deserve special recognition for adopting children and raising them as their own, with the love and care they deserve; and IP J0CFXi(ff2 *, Ocoee families, including relatives and grandparents, who have already adopted children may benefit from continued post- adoption support services in the days and years ahead. No w, Therefore, I, S. Scott Vandergrift, Mayor, do hereby proclaim the month of November, 2014 as, Adoption Month in Ocoee, and urge all citizens to recognize the special families who open their hearts and homes to adoption.
