Scott Vandergrift, Mayor of the City of Ocoee, Florida, by the authority vested in me by the state of Florida proclaim: May 2006 as "BIKE MONTH" in the City of Ocoee 611b ftlrtber: Ask all citizens of this great community to recognize the importance of bicycle safety and be more aware of cyclist on our streets and highways. SfMt1/c-Wf'4t, ~ Proclamation WHEREAS, safety of our citizens is the foremost goal of local, state, and national governments; and WHEREAS, the ability to exercise the rights and freedoms as set forth by our Forefathers depends upon law and order; and WHEREAS, the enforcement oflaw and order is a primary function of government; and WHEREAS, Law Enforcement is one ofthe few chosen professions that require the willingness to lay down one's life to protect others; and WHEREAS, the daily performance of a Law Enforcement Officer's normal duty is dangerous, stress-filled, often unappreciated and requires a special person with a supportive family; and WHEREAS, the Ocoee Police Department is comprised ofthe finest officers, supervisors, dispatchers, administrative and support staff that can be found, Now, Therefore, I, S. Scott Vandergrift, Mayor of the City ofOcoee, do hereby declare the observance of May 15 - 20, 2006 as: NATIONAL POLICE WEEK in the City of Ocoee, and I urge all citizens to take the time to thank those in Law Enforcement for the important service they provide to all of us.
