Metroplan recommends that one of the City's appointed representatives be someone with bicycle and pedestrian experience and further commends Robert McKey, who has served on the BPAC for 14 years as an Ocoee representative. In continued support of bicycle and pedestrian initiatives of Metroplan Orlando, it is recommended that the City Commission appoint Robert McKey to the Community Advisory Committee. Issue: Should the City Commission appoint Robert McKey as a bicycle/pedestrian representative to the Metroplan Orlando Community Advisory Committee? Recommendations: Staff respectfully recommends the Commission appoint Robert McKey as a bicycle/pedestrian representative to the Metroplan Orlando Community Advisory Committee. Lake Shore Drive Ocoee, FL 34761 Dear Mr. Frank: We'd like to ask that you make your staff appointments for 2016 to the MetroPlan Orlando Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). Several weeks ago, you received a letter regarding appointments to the new Community Advisory Committee. Thank you again for expediting those appointments. It is now time to turn our attention to your TAC members. As a reminder, beginning in January 2016, the MetroPlan Orlando Citizens' Advisory Committee and Bicycle Et Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) will be merged into the Community Advisory Committee. Because the new committee will be populated by citizens outside of the transportation industry, local government staff currently serving on BPAC are not eligible to serve on the new group. Also beginning in January, the TAC and its subcommittees will take on the technical work and analysis that has taken place in BPAC up to this point. It would be an asset to your local government to have at least one primary member or alternate with bicycle and pedestrian expertise to facilitate the transportation planning process. Therefore, we are asking that you please consider bicycle and pedestrian interests when making your 2016 appointments to the TAC. For your consideration in making your TAC appointments, Rob McKey has been an active member of the BPAC and has represented your jurisdiction well. You are free to appoint staff who are current BPAC members to serve as primary members or alternates on our Technical Advisory Committee. Your current appointment(s) to the TAC are listed in the table for reference.
