Contact Number: 407-905-3159 City Manager: Robert Fran Subject: Replacement of the Headworks Structure's Grit Turntable #1 .t the Wastewater Treatment Plant(Citywide) Background Summary: The wastewater treatment plant's headworks structure has a series of grit removal devices that take in and discard inorganic material from the treatment process. The grit turntable #1 apparatus, which has been in operation since the original construction of the headworks in 1999 has failed, and as it functions to protect all downstream pumps and equipment, needs to be replaced. Replacement of grit turntable #1 is scheduled within the 10-Year Maintenance Program for replacement in Fiscal Year 2018, at a total price of $45,427.20. The Utilities Department has received a parts quote in the amount of $27,624.00 from Sanders Company (exclusive supplier in Florida), for the direct replacement of the apparatus. Filter One will be working at the headworks replacing bar screen #2, therefore Utilities recommends accepting Filter One's quote in the amount of$14,978.00 to install the grit turntable at the same time. The total amount of grit turntable replacement is $42,602.00. Issue: Should the Mayor and Commission authorize the City Manager to purchase a new grit turntable system at a total cost of$42,602.00? Recommendations Staff recommends the Mayor and Commission authorize the City Manager to purchase a new grit turntable system at a total cost of $42,602.00, with parts being purchased from Sanders Company, and labor to install the system being provided by Filter One.
