Wright Department Director: Contact Number: 407-905-3100 x9-1530 City Manager: //J/ Subject: Most Valuable Partnership Grants—Cycle 2015/2016 Background Summary: The Most Valuable Partnership Grants Program has been in operation for several years. The grant program assist Ocoee neighborhoods and organizations with projects that will enhance property values and improve the quality of life in Ocoee. The MVP grant program is a matching grant program held annually in November. The maximum matching grant award is $2,000. Funding is not given up front, but is reimbursed at the completion of the organization's project. Applicants pay for their improvement projects and then get a portion back, up to a maximum of$2,000. Eight applications were submitted. The following organizations are recommended to receive grants: Admiral Pointe; Ashton Park; Betty J's Florist; Johio Bay; Lake Olympia Club; Rotary Club of Ocoee; Sleepy Harbour and Whitehill. Although businesses haven't been awarded MVP Grants in the past, Betty J's Florist is recommended to receive a grant because their proposed improvement project would improve the asthetics and safety in a key area in the city's downtown redevelopment plan, per the City Manager. The eight organizations are requesting a total of$15,388. There is $12,000 in grant funding available. Issue: Should the Mayor and Commissioners approve the $12,000 funding recommendation? Recommendations: Staff respectfully requests that the Mayor and City Commission approve the recommendation. Attachments: MVP Grant Applications Financial Impact: Total amount requested is $15,388. Betty J's Florist Installation of coach lights, grading in back alley, floodlight installation on rear(east side) of building, benches for Bluford Avenue side of building and architectural treatment for Bluford Avenue (west) side of building. Amount requested: $2,000 Staff recommendation: $1,572 4. Johio Bay HOA Landscape improvements on north side of front entrance, create flower bed along the wall. Amount requested: $2,000 Staff recommendation: $1,250 5. Lake Olympia HOA Replace entrance landscaping and aging Ligustrum trees. Amount requested: $2,000 Staff recommendation: $1,571 6. Rotary Club of Ocoee College scholarships for three Ocoee High School seniors who live in Ocoee Amount requested: $1,500 Staff recommendation: $1,500 7. Sleepy Harbour HOA Community entrances replace declining and dead landscaping, repair entrance lighting, add message board at Lakeshore and Stinnett entrances. Amount requested: $1,888 Staff recommendation: $1,392 8. Whitehill HOA Install security cameras at entrance and exit.
