Background Summary: The Ocoee Fire Department currently owns a Mako air compressor, fill station, and cascade system, which was purchased more than 15 years ago. This equipment has reached the end of its life cycle. Repairs and new editions and standards have made these pieces of equipment obsolete. The Ocoee Fire Department is seeking approval of the commission to move forward in the acquisition of the new Mako air system to replace our current Mako air systems, in an effort to decrease maintenance and repairs cost and to upgrade to the current national standards which will provide additional firefighter safety. Issue: The Mako air systems currently in use by the Ocoee Fire Department is 15 years old and has quickly met the end of its life cycle. Routine service on this system is more frequent and parts are harder to find. Additionally, newer innovations and technology will allow for safer operations with these high pressure air bottles. Recommendations Staff recommends the approval of the Commission to purchase the new Mako air compressor, fill station, and cascade system. Channel Innovations is our current vendor and provides the routine maintenance for the air system. Approve waiving the bid process and approve based on Channel Innovations being the best source and only authorized distributor sanctioned to represent the Mako breathing air products in Florida. Attachments: Attached is a copy of the new price quote dated 06/13/2016. Additional quotes are also attached. Financial Impact: The financial impact would be $41,293.00, with trade-in value of our current system of$4000.00 leaving a net price of$37,293.00. This is a budgeted item under Capital Improvements.
