HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-24-1992 Minutes MINUTES OF THE CITY OF OCOEE CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD MEETING HELD MARCH 24, 1992 ROLL CALL PRESENT: Chairman Phillip Rowe, Vice Chairman Ray Wood, Frank Carlsson, Robert Imes, Madeline Shagner, Jim Sills, Attorney Ike Cool, Code Enforcement Officer Steve Ross, Fire Inspector Rick Holmes, and Deputy Clerk Sherry Seaver. ABSENT: Dave Rich (unexcused) The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm in the Ocoee Community Center. Chairman Rowe led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Mr. Carlsson led in silent prayer for the late Gary Carroll. Chairman Rowe stated for the record that there was a quorum present. APPROVALS Mr. Imes made a motion to approve the minutes of the February 25, 1992 Code Enforcement Board meeting as printed and distributed. Motion seconded by Mr. Carlsson and approved unanimously. HEARINGS ON STATEMENT OF VIOLATIONS PURSUANT TO NOTICES OF HEARING (how 92-19, Richardson Bus Transport At this time, James Richardson, Mr. Ross and Mr. Holmes were sworn in by Deputy Clerk Seaver. Mr. Ross stated the inspection dates in this case. Mr. Ross stated that some of the violations listed have already been corrected. This building was to have limited painting. An electrical permit was still needed to repair the system and fire extinguishers had to be installed to meet the standards to obtain an occupational license. Mr. Richardson agreed with Mr. Ross and stated that he would get the permit to fix the electrical and install the fire extinguishers. Mr. Richardson asked about hanging the fire extinguishers. Mr. Carlsson made a motion to find the Respondent in non-compliance and to give them until April 3, 1992 to comply or to be fined $25.00 per day thereafter. Motion seconded by Vice Chairman Wood and approved unanimously. 92-22, Complete Amusement & Vending Company This case complied prior to the hearing and was dismissed. 92-23, Coastline Services, Inc. Chairman Rowe stated for the record that there was no one present to represent this case. Mr. Ross stated that this case was dealing with vending machines in stores. Mr. Ross stated that he was told by the company that they were a non-profit organization but did not (bor provide any paperwork to support that fact but they would be sending it. Mr. Carlsson made a motion to find the Respondent in r Page 2 Code Enforcement Board Meeting March 24, 1992 non-compliance and to give them until April 13, 1992 to comply or to be fined $25.00 a day thereafter. 92-24, Jim Richardson &/or Dorothy Y. Irvin This case complied prior to the hearing and was dismissed. 92-25, United Motor Company Chairman Rowe stated for the record that there was no one present to represent this case. Mr. Ross stated that this case was brought to the Board because he needed an occupational license. Mr. Ross stated that there were no apparent problems to hold him up except he needed to turn in an application. Mr. Imes made a motion to find the Respondent in non-compliance and to give them until March 30, 1992 to comply or to be fined $25.00 a day thereafter. Motion seconded by Mr. Sills and approved unanimously. 92-26, Joseph Howell This case complied prior to the hearing and was dismissed. 92-27, Joseph Howell &/or Robert Iles &/or Betty Pedrick This case complied prior to the hearing and was dismissed. OTHER BUSINESS At this time, Mr. Imes made a motion to sign the document for an Affidavit of Indebtedness in reference to case number 87-43. Motion seconded by Mr. Carlsson and approved unanimously. COMMENTS City Manager - Not Present. Police Department - Not Present. Code Enforcement Officers - Made comments about working on code enforcement. Board Members - Mr. Carlsson - Questions on electrical work. Robert Imes - Introduced his neighbor, Larry Chestney, to the Board. Citizens - No Comment. L (mr.
