HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-22-1991 Minutes MINUTES OF THE CITY OF OCOEE CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD MEETING HELD OCTOBER 22, 1991 CALL TO ORDER PRESENT: Chairman Phillip Rowe, Robert Imes, Jim Sills, Madeline Shagner, Attorney Ike Cool, Code Enforcement Officers Steve Ross and Rod McDougal, Fire Inspector Rick Holmes, and Deputy Clerk Sherry Seaver. ABSENT: Vice Chairman Ray Wood, Gary Carroll, Frank Carlsson. Chairman Rowe called the meeting to order at 7 :30 p.m. in the Ocoee Community Center. Chairman Rowe led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and in Prayer. Chairman Rowe stated for the record that there was a quorum present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Imes made a motion to approve the minutes of the September 24, 1991 Code Enforcement Board meeting as printed and distributed. Motion seconded by Mr. Sills and approved unanimously. HEARINGS ON STATEMENTS OF VIOLATIONS PURSUANT TO NOTICES OF HEARING Case 91-093, Danny W. &/or Sherry L. Noble (by Chairman Rowe stated for the record that there was no one present to represent this case. Mr. McDougal, Mr. Ross and Mr. Holmes were sworn in at this time by Deputy Clerk Seaver. Mr. McDougal stated the inspection dates in this case and the condition of the property. He stated that the pool was in a stagnant condition with an open entrance to the rear yard. Mr. McDougal also stated that the grass was overgrown. At this time, Mr. McDougal presented pictures of the property to the Board for review. Mr. Imes made a motion to find the Respondent in violation of codes stated and to give them until November 1, 1991 to bring the property into compliance or be fined $100.00 a day thereafter. Motion seconded by Mr. Sills and approved unanimously. Case 91-101, Uniwes Inc. Mr. McDougal presented the inspection dates in this case. He stated that no contact had been made with the Respondent except for the return card on the Notice of Hearing. Mr. McDougal stated that the undeveloped lot was overgrown. At this time, Mr. McDougal presented pictures of the property to the Board for review. Mr. Imes made a motion to find the Respondent in violation and to give them until November 1, 1991 to comply or be fined $100.00 a day thereafter. Motion seconded by Ms. Shagner and approved unanimously. L Page 2 Code Enforcement Board Meeting October 22, 1991 OTHER BUSINESS Case 91-079, Fantastic Sams Chairman Rowe asked the Board for a motion on this case. Mr. Sills made a motion to suspend the fines on this case. Motion seconded by Mr. Imes. Mr. Sills amended his motion to read to reduce the fines to $50.00. Amended motion seconded by Mr. Imes and approved unanimously. Mr. Sills made a motion to Impose the Fine and Lien. Motion seconded by Mr. Imes and approved unanimously. COMMENTS City Manager - Not Present Code Enforcement Officers - Mr. Ross introduced Rick Holmes, Fire Inspector, to the Code Enforcement Board. Fire Department - Mr. Holmes commented on Fantastic Sams. He also stated that many would be being brought before the Board and that they need to take a firm stance. Board Members - Chairman Rowe appreciated the Members being present. ADJOURNMENT Mr. Imes made a motion to adjourn. Motion adjourned at 7 :55 p.m. . Phillip Rowe, Chairman ATTES .
