HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-26-97 MINUTES OF THE CITY OF OCOEE CANVASSING BOARD MEETING HELD MARCH 26, 1997 CALL TO ORDER Mayor Vandergrift called the Canvassing Board to order at 12:00 p.m. in the Commission Chambers Conference Room. The roll was called and a quorum declared present. PRESENT: Mayor Vandergrift, Commissioners Anderson and Johnson. Also present were Candidate Howell, City Attorney Rosenthal, City Clerk Grafton, and Deputy City Clerk Green. ABSENT: None. City Clerk Grafton reported tabulated results of the March 25, 1997 run-off election for Commissioner, District No.1 as follows: Danny Howell John Linebarier 129 102 231 votes cast Mayor Vandergrift confirmed the tabulator tape totals to be as reported. COUNTING OF ABSENTEE BALLOTS City Clerk Grafton reported that four absentee ballots had been requested and four absentee ballots had been returned by the Supervisor of Elections. City Attorney Rosenthal said he had reviewed the absentee ballots and found them to be in proper form. Commissioner Anderson. seconded by Commissioner Johnson. moved to accept the absentee ballots. Motion carried 3-0. The absentee ballots were opened by the Board, separated from the identifying envelopes, stirred, removed from the secrecy envelopes, and counted. Commissioner Anderson announced, and Commissioner Johnson confirmed, the distribution of absentee votes for the District 1 run-off election: Danny Howell John Linebarier 2 2 1 votes cast Commissioner Anderson. seconded by Commissioner Johnson moved to accept the absentee ballots as counted. Motion carried 3-0. Ocoee City Commission Canvassing Board Meeting March 26, 1997 CERTIFICATION OF ELECTION RETURNS Upon combining the tabulator count with the absentee count, Commissioner Anderson, seconded by Commissioner Johnson, moved to certify the count in the District No.1 election to be as follows: Danny Howell 131 and John Linebarier 104 and to declare Mr. Howell the winner bv virtue of having received the maiority of votes cast. Motion carried 3-0. Commissioner Johnson, seconded by Commissioner Anderson, moved to adiourn. Motion carried 3-0. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 12:07 p.m. APPROVED Attest: City of Ocoee 2
