BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION
STAFF REPORT
ISSUE
Should the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners approve
using up to $7, 000 . 00 from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund (Forfeited
Money) to purchase a vehicle to be used by the Ocoee Police investi-
gator assigned to the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation.
BACKGROUND
The Police Department has begun a training program of rotating
Patrol Officers into the Criminal Investigation Division on a tempor-
ary basis to give them the opportunity to work more complex cases
through to completion. An additional unmarked vehicle is needed.
DISCUSSION
The Law Enforcement Trust Fund has grown with a large percentage
of the money coming from the Police Department ' s share of money
and other assets seized by the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation.
The Ocoee investigator is currently driving a vehicle which could
be used by the officer temporarily assigned to the Criminal Investi-
gation Division if another vehicle is purchased.
RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the Honorable Mayor and Board
of City Commissioners approve using up to $7, 000 . 00 to purchase
a pre-owned vehicle for use by the Ocoee Police Department Investi-
gator assigned to the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation.
