GIRL SCOUTS
March 25, 1991
Dear Sirs,
At the April Y6, 1991 City Council mooting I will be representing the
Girl Scouts fram the Ocoee Area.
At this time we are asking for an $800.00 donation to Girl Scouting.
$400.00 of this will go to Gifts for Girls. There are many girls in
our area who are on Scouter Ships or scans kind of financial assistance.
Without this many girls would not be able to afford Girl Scouting.
We are asking the City of Ocoee to please make a donation to this fund.
This fund also trains leaders, and provides them with most of the
materials they need for little or no cost to the troops.
The other $400.00 will be used to help pay for a Camperee to be held
on April 26-28, 1991. All the troops in the West Orange area are
invited to attend. We estimate over 150 girls will attend. We
are trying to keep the cost to a minimum for the girls.
Thank you,
1'01"`"_

Dear Friends,
We are asking you to join in supporting our community through your
annual gift to Girl Scouting. Your investment in Citrus Council ' s
Girl Scout program will produce benefits, by helping girls today
prepare for leadership roles in the future .
During 1990, Citrus Council of Girl Scouts served more than 18,000
girls and their families in the Central Florida area. While
learning together, building skills in a variety of fields and
enjoying traditional Girl Scouting activities, today' s Girl Scouts
are also addressing contemporary issues like substance and child
abuse, staying safe while at home alone and coping with family
crisis .
It costs Citrus Council $80 . 00 to serve one girl for a year. As
our membership grows, we expect the cost of serving these girls to
grow, and are continually seeking new funding sources to provide
the needed funds . We need your help.
Will you consider a $400 . 00 contribution to provide staff and
program support for several Girl Scouts? You will be helping girls
to reach their full potential, and you will be investing wisely in
your community' s future.
An Equal Opportunity Employer 0 A Ume°Way Agency
Just as Girl Scouting is responsive to the interests and needs of
young citizens, we count on you to respond generously to our
appeal . The success of Girl Scouting has always depended on the
adults who care about young people. Today, your involvement is
more urgent and important than ever.
Sincerely,
Kathy udwig

Did you know that for every 100 girls who join Girl Scouting
* Only rarely will one be brought before juvenile court
* Four will earn the Gold Award
* Twelve will have their first contact with a church
* Five will earn their church religious award
* One will enter the clergy
* Eighteen will develop hobbies used during their adult life
* Eight will enter a vocation that was learned through the badge
or patch program
* Seventeen will be future Girl Scout volunteers
* One will use her Girl Scouting skills to save a life
* One will use her Girl Scouting skills to save her own life
That' s a pretty good return on an investment in Girl Scouting!
