HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem II (A) Proclamation - United Nations Day - October 24, 1992 AGENDA 10-20-92 II A \!Ocoee O/1 y.—0 c ft � a r•G, GGG� lirtinciamation IKiWW E: WHEREAS, the community of nations has discovered the importance and relevance of the international framework of the United Nations system to combat global problems and settle regional conflicts; WHEREAS, the United Nations is playing a central role in addressing the crises and challenges which have emerged around the world in the last few years; WHEREAS, the United States has an unprecedented opportunity to lead in the world Organization for the advancement of democracy, pluralism and human rights worldwide; WHEREAS, the U.N. is on its way towards realizing the promise of 1945 with the recent demise of the Cold War; and WHEREAS, the United Nations is celebrating its 47th birthday on October 24th; OliErEfore• I, Lester Dabbs, Jr., by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of Ocoee, do hereby proclaim October 24, 1992 as: UNITED NATIONS DAY in Ocoee and urge all our citizens to rededicate themselves on this day to the peaceful solutions of the world's problems through the United Nations and to take an active part in the events and activities being organized to celebrate the U.N.'s birthday.
