MANAGER O
MEMORANDUM
TO: The Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners
FROM: Montye Beamer, Director of Administrative Services 7-Y)/
DATE: May 12, 1993
SUBJECT: CLOSING CITY HALL - JUNE 18, 1993 AT 12 (NOON)
The following request was given to the City Manager on April 30, 1993. It concerned the move
to the Community Center and Modular Unit as preparation for demolition of the existing City
Hall.
In reviewing various calendars, the date for relocation which appears least noxious to all
concerned is June 19, 1993. This is after the third Tuesday and before utility cut-off.
Because we want to handle this cost-effectively as well as efficiently I am requesting that
City Hall be closed to the public at noon on June 18, 1993. This would allow time for
final packing but more importantly, give NCR and Monroe the opportunity to move the
equipment at their regular hourly rate as opposed to their night/weekend hourly rate
which is double the regular rate. This would still be a work day but no payments or
account review would be done.
All electrical, telephone and plumbing work will be accomplished in the weeks prior to the
move. Depending on the moving company selected, the actual relocation may begin after 5:00
p.m. on June 18, 1993 and be completed June 19. The three moving companies providing
written quotes have each indicated that the entire vacation of City Hall will require eight hours.
Action Requested
The Mayor and Board of City Commissioners approve June 18, 1993 at 12 (noon) as closing for
City Hall business to allow staff to pack with reopening in new location on June 21, 1993.
