WHEREAS, city government is the government closest to most
citizens, and the one with the most direct daily impact
upon its residents; and
WHEREAS, city government is administered for and by its citizens,
and is dependent upon public commitment to and
understanding of its many responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, city government officials and employees share the
responsibility to pass along their understanding of
public services and their benefits; and
WHEREAS, Florida City Government Week is a very important time to
recognize the important role played by city government in
our lives; and
WHEREAS, this week offers an important opportunity to spread the
work to all the citizens of Florida that they can shape
and influence this branch of government which is closest
to the people; and
WHEREAS, the Governor and Cabinet of the State of Florida have set
aside this week to recognize and honor the efforts of
city governments;
I, S . Scott Vandergrift, Mayor of the City
of Ocoee, Florida do hereby proclaim October 3-9, 1993 , as
FLORIDA CITY GOVERNMENT WEEK
in the City of Ocoee, and I do hereby encourage all citizens, city
government officials and employees to do everything possible to
ensure that this week is recognized and celebrated accordingly.
FURTHER, I encourage educational partnerships between city
government and schools .
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal
of the City of Ocoee, Florida to be affixed this fifth day of
October, 1993 .
