CITY OF OCOEE
AGENDA ITEM COVER SHEET
Date: August 26, 2004 Meeting Date: September 7, 2004
Subject: Transfer From Contingency– Educational Program
Issue:
Utilization of the City's Educational Incentive Program has been unusually high
during FY 2003-04. The line item is once again depleted and additional funding is
needed to continue through the end of the fiscal year.
Recommendation:
We are recommending an additional $6,000 be transferred from Contingency to
continue the program through the end of the fiscal year.
Background Summary:
The Educational Incentive Program provides funding for employees to pursue
course work related to their job or to the long-range value of the employee to the
City. Not only has usage increased, the users are seeking advanced degrees and
more costly City job related certifications. The initial request for this line item
this fiscal year was $27,165. A transfer of$8,000 approved by the Commission on
August 3, 2004, has been depleted.
Fiscal Impacts:
Contingency balance as of August 26, 2004 is $76,000. Balance less this request
will be $70,000.
