Background Summary: Members of the Human Relations/Diversity Board (HRDB) serve two-year terms. On September 16, 2003, City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2003-21 establishing the Human Relations/Diversity Board and adopting By-Laws for the board. The Resolution provides that HRDB membership shall consist of no less than seven (7) members and no more than fifteen (15) members. Currently the board has twelve (12) members. Issue: Should the City Commission appoint Danny Vereen and Matt Garland as members on the Human Relations/Diversity Board? Recommendations Two applications were recently submitted for the Human Relations/Diversity Board; therefore staff recommends the City Commission consider appointing Danny Vereen and Matt Garland to the Human Relations/Diversity Board with terms ending November 30,2006. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION Both Danny Vereen and Matt Garland have been city residents for over ten years. They both also indicated on their applications a strong interest in being members on the Human Relations/Diversity Board. If appointed, Danny Vereen and Matt Garland would serve two-year terms ending November 30, 2006.
