Background Summary:
The gearbox rotor and shaft assembly is an essential element to the overall operations of the wastewater
treatment process. The new assembly will replace the existing unit which is over ten years old and is reaching the
end of its service life. The existing assembly will be refurbished at a later date and utilized as a backup for
emergency conditions.
Issue:
Should the Mayor and City Commissioners approve the purchase of a gearbox rotor and shaft assembly from the
"best" source vendor Kruger Company in the amount of$16,845.67.
Recommendations
Staff recommends that the City Commission approve the purchase of the gearbox and shaft assembly from "best"
source vendor Kruger Company in the amount of$16,845.67 and funded from Sanitary Sewer R& R account.

RE: Gearbox for Oxidation Ditch No. 1
ISSUE
Should the Mayor and City Commissioners approve for the purchase of a gearbox rotor and shaft assembly from
the "best"source vendor Kruger Company in the amount of$16,845.67.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The gearbox rotor and shaft assembly is an essential element to the overall operations of the wastewater
treatment process. The new assembly will replace the existing unit, which is over ten years old and is reaching
the end of its service life. The existing assembly will be refurbished at a later date and utilized as a backup for
emergency conditions.
The City of Ocoee's Wastewater Plant uses the proprietor treatment process patented by the Kruger Company.
The Kruger Company produces most of the critical equipment and electronics used in the plant operation and the
gearbox rotor and shaft assembly is exclusively produced by Kruger.
Delay and/or failure to replace the gearbox rotor and shaft may lead to operational failures, regulation
compliance issues, and disruption of reuse water production meeting public contact service levels.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Commission approve the purchase of the gearbox and shaft assembly from
"best" source vendor Kruger Company in the amount of$16,845.67 and funded from Utility Wastewater R&R
account.
