Presentation
Bill Simon started with the Ocoee Police Department on July 14, 1986,
Ocoee had approximately 24 officers at the time. Bill's 18-year career
included uniform road patrol, bicycle patrol, detectives, Traffic Homicide
investigations, and Crisis Intervention Team, just to name a few areas. The
Ocoee Police Department never had a horse patrol, but somehow there's a
photo of him in uniform riding a horse in a parade hanging on a wall in the
police station, Bill was one of the first, if not the first, certified traffic crash
reconstructionists at the Ocoee Police Department.
Bill had a big impact on the citizens, City employees and the police
department. You never had to guess what was on Bill's mind as he always let
everyone know. Bill has made many friends over the years and even met his
wife Shelly while at the police department. She is a former police dispatcher.
Bill retired from the Ocoee Police Department on January 4, 2005. On behalf
of the City of Ocoee and the police department, we would like to present this
rocking chair to thank you for your years of service.
