The Human Relations/Diversity Board has made a motion at their February 3, 2005, meeting to request the City
Commission to consider paying the registration fee of $400.00 for Dr. Frann Kelly Rodriguez to attend the National
Conference on Leadership Diversity, March 17 - 19 at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando.

Recommendations
The purpose of the board is to promote understanding, respect, goodwill, and equality among all citizens and
businesses of the City of Ocoee. The board members feel that sending one of their members to this conference will
help them achieve their purpose and will bring new ideas to share.

The National Conference on Leadership Diversity is offered biannually as a leadership development forum
for diverse individuals to address many of the current and emerging leadership challenges of a dynamic
workforce. Issues such as race, ethnicity, gender, age, levels of ability, and other dimensions or human
diversity are explored with the express intent of expanding the leadership repertoire and enhancing the
capacities of individuals to successfully implement leadership diversity throughout their organizations at all
levels.
The 2005 National Conference on Leadership Diversity should be attended by individuals across the entire
spectrum of the workforce-from seasoned executives, to mid-level managers, to students preparing to
begin their careers. The conference is designed to bring together leadership development professionals,
educators, business executives, government and nonprofit agency officials, students, recent graduates,
those who are new to the workforce, as well as those who are in a state of career transition, to engage
each other in ways that will ultimately help individuals and organizations embrace diversity as essential to
successful personal, organizational, and community life.
Our 2005 theme, "Unleashing the Power," expresses the forceful energy and dynamic impact that can
result when we put forth the conscious effort to move beyond rhetoric to exchange ideas, stories,
perspectives, strategies, and resources in support of leadership diversity.
Via keynote speakers, workshops, and other presentation formats, conference attendees will be able to
identify and explore leadership issues that are common across dimensions of diversity; network and
exchange ideas, strategies, and best practices; and enhance their professional and personal spirit with
fresh ideas and innovative techniques. Participants will also have the opportunity to become a member of a
dynamic "E-Community of Leaders" as a means of maintaining contact and sharing information, concerns,
and strategies on an ongoing basis.
