Issue: Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners approve and authorize the purchase of an advertisement in honor of the Florida League of Cities 79th Annual Conference, August 18th through August 20th, 2005 for their Quality Cities Magazine, Recommendations Recommends the Honorable Mayor and City Commission authorize the city staff to purchase a full page, black and white advertisement for the amount of $500 utilizing account 001-511-00-8200. Staff also recommends the advertisement include a photo of the City Commission, the city's logo, an extension of best wishes to the Florida League of Cities for a successful conference, as well as the addition of the city's website address in honor of the launching of the new website and a contact phone number for the city. BACKGROUNDIDISCUSSION The City annually agrees to place an advertisement in the Florida League of Cities Magazine, Quality Cities. The advertisement has in the past featured a photo of the City Commission, the city's logo, and extends best wishes to the Florida League of Cities for a successful conference. As in previous years, we are extending to all Florida cities, member counties and locallregionalleagues an invitation to advertise in the special conference issue of Quality Cities. This offers an excellent opportunity to extend best wishes for a successful conference to our host, the City of Orlando. The deadline for advertising space reservations and advertising copy is May 16,2005. We have enclosed a form that must be signed and returned for ad placement. The form includes ad sizes and costs. If your city advertised last year, a copy of your ad is enclosed. You can use it in developing this year's ad. If you did not advertise last year, sample ads are enclosed. To make your ad more attractive, we encourage you to include artwork such as your city's logo or a photograph.
