Background Summary:
City's consultant, Herbert-Halback Inc. (HHI) has completed a study for the renovation of the Old Fire Station #1. The
study evaluated various alternatives for the renovation of the building intended for the use by the City's Building/Code
Enforcement Division. In addition to interior/exterior renovations, the recommended modification will allow for the
future reconstruction of the entrance to City Complex, The costs of the building renovations is estimated at $590,000 as
outlined in the enclosed study.
Issue:
Consideration of the renovations recommended by the study by HHI, and provide direction to staff.

City Commission to consider the recommended renovations and provide direction to staff.

If the City Commission wishes to proceed with the renovations, the funds will be budgeted for next fiscal year (FY 05-
06) in the amount of$600,000.

ISSUE
Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commission consider the study by Herbert-Halback Inc. (HHI) for the
renovation of Old Fire Station #1 and provide direction to staff on the conclusions of the study?
BACKGROUNDIDISCUSSION
City's consultant, Herbert-Halback Inc. (HHI) has completed a study for the renovation of the Old Fire Station
#1. The study evaluated various interior/exterior alternatives for the renovation of the building intended for the
use by the City's Building/Code Enforcement Division. In addition to interior/exterior renovations, the
recommended building modification will allow for the future reconstruction of the entrance to City Complex.
The costs of the building renovations is estimated at $590,000 as outlined in the enclosed study. A separate cost
estimate has been provided for changes to the City Complex main entrance
If the City Commission wishes to proceed with the renovations, the funds will be budgeted for next fiscal year
(FY 05-06) in the amount of$600,000,
RECOMMENDATION
Staff respectfully requests that the Honorable Mayor and City Commission to consider the study by HHI and
provide direction to staff.
