Goclon, Chief of Police DATE: November 7,2005 RE: Purchase of Two (2) Police Motorcycles (New) ISSUE Should the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners authorize the Police Department to purchase two (2) police motorcycles with related equipment from Harley Davidson Shop of Clermont. BACKGROUNDIDISCUSSION The 05/06 budget includes the outright purchase of two (2) police motorcycles with equipment. Bid specifications from the State of Florida/ Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA) and from Harley Davidson Shop of Clermont were reviewed for factors such as price, dealer proximity, and options available. Harley Davidson Shop of Clermont is a local authorized Harley Davidson dealer and is able to match the price of the only FSA bid provider. The motorcycle is the same vehicle with comparable equipment. The Harley Davidson Shop of Clermont will be maintaining the police motorcycles after purchase. The only FSA bid is located in south Florida (Ft. Lauderdale) and not readily available for consultation and contact.
