Background Summary:

BACKGROUNDIDISCUSSION
Change Order #1 to Contract B05-01, City-wide Right-of-way Mowing is intended for the addition of
approximately 17.35 acres (23 new locations) to the existing contract. The new total acreage for the contract is
estimated at 124.30 acres. The estimated cost of Change Order #1 is $624.60 per cycle. All other terms of the
contract will remain unchanged. A list of the new locations is provided in Exhibit A-I.
Funds are available from the Department's Contractual Services account.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff respectfully request City Commission approve Change Order #1 to Contract B05-01 and authorize Mayor
and City Clerk to execute the Change Order.

This Change Order #1 is for the purpose of the addition of approximately 17.35 acres to the existing Contract
B05-01. Exhibit A-I attached includes a list of new location and approximate acres for each location. All other
terms of the original Contract B05-01 shall remain the same.

Two separate contracts for installing landscape material and building rest stations along
the Rinehart Road trail.
City of Winter SDrinl!S:
Landscape maintenance for Winter Springs Town Center at SR 434 and Tuskawila
Blvd. Services include maintenance of roadways and squares within the Town Center.
City of Lon2Wood:
Landscape maintenance of roadways and storm-water areas. Same services as City of

Chase Townhomes Homeowners Association:
Landscape maintenance of all common areas to include the front entrance. Mowing,
trimming, edging, trash pick up, blowing, and weed control services are perform along

2/22/05 - I spoke with Mr. Carrico on the telephone. He stated that Markham Woods
Landscaping, Inc. did a small job for the City of Lake Mary. He stated that they did a
good job and kept on schedule with one exception. Mr. Carrico stated that because
Markham Woods Landscaping, Inc. did not do the landscaping for the entire city that he
was not qualified to give a reference on their Right of Way maintenance services.

2/21/05 - I spoke with Mr. Richart on the telephone. Mr. Richart said that Markham
Woods Landscaping, Inc. had a small account with the City of Winter Springs. They
only take care ofthe "Town Center". He stated that they do "Pretty Good" work, they
adhere to the schedule set for them, and they don't have a problem with equipment
breakdowns. Mr. Richart also stated that when Markham Woods Landscaping, Inc. is
asked to do anything extra they are very responsive.

2/21/05 - I spoke with Ms. Forbis on the telephone. Ms. Forbis was extremely pleased
with the work that Markham Woods Landscaping, Inc. does for them. She stated that
they are very responsive when asked to do extras, they adhere to the scheduled dates for
service and have no problems with equipment breakdowns. Ms. Forbis also stated that
Markham Woods Landscaping, Inc. does other properties for her besides Chase
Townhomes.

Andrea Brackin
2/21/05 - I spoke with Ms. Brackin on the telephone. Ms. Brackin said that she was very
pleased with the service that Markham Woods Landscaping, Inc. provides. She said the
only time that they do not adhere to the schedule set for them is if the weather is too bad
or if the ground is too wet that their equipment would leave ruts. She said that when that
happens, they usually do the task within a few days of when it was scheduled. She did
not have a problem with equipment breakdowns keeping them from completing their
tasks. Ms. Brackin said that Markham Woods works well with the board and doesn't
have a problem doing little extras. She stated that Woodbridge Lakes is a housing
development consisting of approximately 300 homes. Markham Woods is responsible
for the right of ways, several ponds and retention areas and a community park.

2/21/05 - I spoke with Ms. VanderVilet on the telephone. Ms. VanderVilet said that she
was very pleased with the work that Markham Woods Landscaping, Inc. does for them.
She stated that they adhere to the schedule, don't have any problems with equipment
breakdowns and that they do extra tasks when requested. Ms. VanderVilet stated that
Markham Woods is responsible for the Rhinehart Road entrance to their gated
community as well as 2 ponds and several strips of common area.
