Subject: Appointment to Code Enforcement Board (three-year term)
Background Summary:
The Code Enforcement Board was created by Ordinance No. 741 on June 16,1981. The purpose of this board is
to review infractions of the City Codes, negotiate compliance, and impose fine for failure to comply.
The board consists of seven (7) regular members and two (2) alternate members.
Member Donenfeld resigned effective November 1, 2005, (term ending June 2008) and Member Henderson was
removed by the Code Enforcement Board on October 25, 2005, for three (3) consecutive absences (term ending
June 2006), leaving two (2) regular member openings on the board.
Alternate Member Lenko (attended 2 out of 5 meetings, tardy x1 meeting, since being moved to an alternate board
member in June of 2005) and Altemate Member Morton (attended 2 out of 2 meetings since being appointed in
September of 2005).
Applicants, Steven Ballard (District 2) and Ronald Strosnider (District 4), have indicated interest in serving on the
Code Enforcement Board.
Issue:
Should Alternate Members Lenko and Morton be moved to regular member status to complete the terms of Mr.
Henderson and Mr. Donenfeld and should applicants Steven Ballard and Ronald Strosnider be appointed as
alternate members to the Code Enforcement Board?
Recommendations
Staff recommends that the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners move Altemate Members Lanko and Morton
to a regular member status or appoint Steven Ballard and Ronald Strosnider to a regular member status for terms
ending June 2006 and June 2008.
