Subject: Appointments to Code Enforcement Board (three-year term)
Background Summary:
The Code Enforcement Board was created by Ordinance No. 741 on June 16, 1981. The purpose
of this board is to review infractions of the City technical Codes, negotiate compliance and impose
fines for failure to comply.
The board consists of seven (7) regular members and two (2) alternate members.
Le Chairman John Linebarier (District 2) resigned effective May 17, 2005, leaving a regular member
opening on the board and Member Konicek (District 3) resigned effective June 27, 2005, leaving an
alternate member opening on the board.
Applicants, James Morton and Steven Ballard, both from District 2 have indicated interest in serving
on the Code Enforcement Board.
Issue:
Should James Morton and Steven Ballard be appointed as a regular and alternate member to the
Code Enforcement Board?
Recommendations
Staff recommends that the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners appoint one (1) regular
member and one (1) alternate member from the attached application of James Morton and Steven
Ballard to serve a three-year term on the Code Enforcement Board.
