Subject: Consideration of appointing citizen of Commissioner Howell's district to the vacation
alternate position of the Code Enforcement Board.
Background Summary:
The Code Enforcement Board was created by Ordinance No. 741 on June 16, 1981. The purpose of this
board is to review infractions of the City technical Codes, negotiate compliance and impose fines for
failure to comply.
The board currently consists of seven (7) regular members and two (1) alternate member. It was
determined that Commissioner Howell would fill the alternate position with a citizen from his district.
Issue:
It was determined that Commissioner Howell would bring to the City Commission the name of a citizen
from his district to fulfill the alternate position of the Code Enforcement Board. Should the City
Commission appoint a citizen from Commissioner Howell's district to the alternate member position of
the Code Enforcement Board?
Recommendations
Staff recommends that the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners appoint an alternate member to
the Code Enforcement Board. Current applications from interested residents are attached, however
none reside in District One.
