The City of North Miami bid the unit in January, 1998 with an automatic transmission. However, the automatic transmission is not available at this time. In lieu of the automatic transmission, Public Works is recommending purchasing the model with the manual transmission at a reduced cost. After review of the proposal from Atlantic Ford Truck Sales by the Public Works and Finance Departments, staff recommends piggybacking on the City of North Miami Bid #20-97-98, per the attached memo from Bob Smith, Public Works Director. Staff contacted Commercial & Municipal Capital, SunTrust Bank, and Ford Motor Credit Company for financing. A) Commercial& Municipal Capital- interest rate 5.85% (4)year term. B) SunTrust Bank- interest rate 5.73% (4)year term. C) Ford Motor Credit Company -interest rate 5.35% (4)year term. RECOMMENDATION It respectfully is recommended that the City Commission approve piggybacking on the City of North Miami Bid #20-97-98 for the purchase of the Pot Hole Patching Truck and approve the Lease Purchase Agreement between the City and Ford Motor Credit Company and authorize execution thereof by the Mayor and City Clerk and further authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute all documents necessary to consummate the transaction contemplated by the Agreement. The manual transmission is cheaper by approximately $1,500 and the automatic transmission is not available at this time. It is my recommendation that we request approval from the City Commission, at their July 7, 1998 meeting, to lease/purchase the pot hole patching truck by piggy backing on the North Miami bid.
