RE: Police Car Take Home Plan
On June 30, 1998, the City Commission had a work session to discuss the Indianapolis
Plan for the City of Ocoee. After a great deal of discussion from the City Commission
and members of the audience, the following directions were placed on the July 7, 1998
City Commission agenda.
1. That the administration be directed to place the appropriate budgetary amount to
guarantee the funding necessary to have a take home police car plan in place
during the 1998-99 budget that allows all non-probationary police officers living
within the City of Ocoee to take home a car.
2. That a Committee be formulated by the administration to set up a program that
may ultimately guarantee that each police officer would have their own vehicle.
Furthermore, the Committee would promulgate the rules and regulations to
administer this program. The Committee make up would include, Chief of Police,
Police Captain, one Patrol Sergeant and at least four police officers as selected
by the police officers to represent the patrol shifts, traffic and the detective
division. Also included will be Finance Director Wanda Horton and Finance
Supervisor Donald Carter.
