SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 5 YEARS FRANCES WATTS Frances came to the City of Ocoee Police Department on October 3, 1994 and has been with us since. We are please to also announce that Frances is very active with the Seniors of Ocoee and is quite an activist for Senior rights. Frances loves children, does not like the bus drivers, and has done a wonderful job escorting the children safely as a School Crossing Guard. Along with her plaque, Frances Watts will receive a City watch and a$50.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 2, 1999 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 5 YEARS THELMA PYLES Thelma came to the City of Ocoee Police Department on October 3, 1994 and has been with us since. Thelma loves children and has done a wonderful job escorting them to safety as a School Crossing Guard. Along with her plaque, Thelma Pyles will receive a City watch and a$50.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 2, 1999 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT, MAYOR 5 YEARS BRIAN M. PAULINE Brian came to the City of Ocoee on October 10, 1994 and has been with us since. Brian started out as a refuse collector in Sanitation. On April 1, 1995 he was re-classified to the position of Sanitation Driver I. On June 24, 1996 Brian requested and received a transfer to the Parks department as a Laborer and on February 27, 1997 he received a promotion to the Utility Department as a Utility Service Worker I. Brian is always upbeat and likes hAob with the City. Along with his plaque, Brian Pauline will receive a City watch and a$50.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 2, 1999 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 5 YEARS VICTORIA P. PRETTYMAN Vickie came to the City of Ocoee on October 3, 1994 and has been with us since. Vickie started out as a Recreation Leader in the Recreation Department. On February 1, 1998 Vickie was promoted to the position of Recreation Supervisor. Vickie does a wonderful job for the Recreation Department. She is the proud Mother of two teenagers and she sets a wonderful example for her children and the Recreation Department in that she is also a degree seeking student at Barry University. Along with her plaque, Victoria Prettyman will receive a City watch and a$50.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 2, 1999 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT, MAYOR 5 YEARS ROBERT E. MARK Robert E. Mark, ourPolice Chief was hired by the City of Ocoee on October 24, 1994. Chief Mark came to us from Hampton,New Hampshire where he had spent 27 years also as Hamptons Chief. Chief Mark was what the doctor ordered. Under his leadership we have one of the best police departments in Orange County. He has brought about much needed change. Along with his plaque, Chief Robert E. Mark will receive a City watch and a $50.00 gift certificate to spend at the AMC Theater Complex at the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 2, 1999 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 5 YEARS DEBBIE J. MC DONALD Debbie Mc Donald began working for the City as a part-time Receptionist on January 24, 1994. Her prior experience had been in personal lines with an insurance company. On October 3, 1994 she became a full time Clerk Typist for the Human Resources Department. On October 1, 1999 Debbie was re-classified to the position of Personnel Technician and on May 7, 1997 she was again re-classified to the position of Human Resource Specialist. Debbie handles much of the City of Ocoee Risk Management issues. It has taken her three years but she is now certified by the Florida Public Personnel Association RS .a Public Personnel Professional Along with her plaque, Debbie McDonald will receive a City watch and a$50.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 2, 1999 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT, MAYOR 10 YEARS ERNEST G. ENGELHARDT IV On October 4, 1989 George Engelhardt began his employment with the City of Ocoee Fire Department as a Firefighter. On September 12, 1996 George was promoted to Engineer within the Fire Department. George is very good atfire services and enjoys it very much. It must also be noted that George is very involved with the State of Florida National Guard. Along with his plaque, George Engelhardt will receive a$100.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 2, 1999 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 10 YEARS CHARLES "MIKE" REED On October 11, 1989 Mike Reed began his employment with the City of Ocoee Fire Department as a Firefighter. On March 10, 1994 Mike was promoted to Engineer within the Fire Department. On September 12, 1996 Mike was promoted again and this time he became part of the management team as a Lieutenant within the Fire Department. It must also be noted that he does a wonderful job on the Police/Fire pension Board. Along with his plaque, Mike Reed will receive a$100.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 2, 1999 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT, MAYOR 10 YEARS STEVEN EDWARD ELLIS On October 12, 1989 Steve Ellis began his employment with the City of Ocoee Fire Department as a Firefighter. Steve was promoted to Engineer on May 12, 1998. Steve is also very active with the IAFF. Along with his plaque, Steve Ellis will receive a$100.00 gift certificate to spend at the Sports Authority. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 2, 1999 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 15 YEARS ROSE M. HATCHER On October 3, 1984 Rose Hatcher began her employment with the City of Ocoee Police Department as a Dispatcher. Rose began a dual function on August 13, 1987 as a Secretary and Communications Operator II within the Police Department. On October 1, 1898 Rose became a Secretary within the department. On October 1, 1991 Rose was re- classified to an Administrative Secretary and she was once again re-classified on October 1, 1995 to the position of Executive Secretary within the Police Department. Along with her plaque, Ray Hatcher will receive a$150.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 2, 1999 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT, MAYOR 15 YEARS CHERYL A. TOMS On January 5, 1984 Cherri Toms became the first woman Police Officer for the City of Ocoee Police Department. The hiring of Cherri Toms opened the door for many other women to enter Police services as Officers for the Ocoee Police Department. On June 19, 1986 she was promoted to Detective and on October 11, 1986 she was promoted to Corporal in the Detective Division. On November 5, 1994 Cherri became a Sergeant within the Detective Division and on October 1, 1995 she was promoted to Lieutenant. She has had a long and distinguished career. Along with her plaque, Cherri Toms will receive a$150.00 gift certificate to spend at Home Depot. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 2, 1999 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 25 YEARS DARREL DEES On April 1, 1984 Darrel Dees was hired by the City of Ocoee. He was hired as the Solid Waste Supervisor. Darrel had to ask what solid Waste was. They took him to the only Sanitation truck the City owned, showed him the gears and took him out on the streets to pick up garbage and trash. Now he understood what solid waste really meant. Darrel has been the Supervisor of the Sanitation Department all these years. Darrel has ten employees that pick up solid waste and this department now has 7 sanitation trucks along with 2 for recycling. He has come a long way!11111111 Along with his plaque, Darrel Dees will receive a$350.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall and a$200.00 Case X Charger Folding Knife. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 2, 1999 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 10 YEARS RAY L. SCHAUB,JR. On October 19, 1989 Ray Schaub began his employment with the City of Ocoee Police Department as a Police Officer. Ray has spent many years with the Police Department in various roles. We are also told that on his time away he is often a Disc Jockey and a very good one. Along with his plaque, Ray Schaub will receive a$100.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall.
