ROBERT SMITH 0, 000a PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR 370 ENTERPRISE ST.•OCOEE,FLORIDA 34761 PHONE(407)877-8420•FAX(407)877-0392 STAFF REPORT TO: The Honorable Mayor and Board o City Comm_issioners FROM: Bob Smith, Public Works Director DATE: November 8, 1999 RE: Purchase of Mobile Lifting System ISSUE: Should the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners authorize the purchase of the ARI-HERTA mobile lifting system and accessories? BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION: This mobile lifting system has a capacity of 60,000 pounds and is required to perform in house repairs and preventative maintenance on garbage trucks and other heavy equipment. This will allow Public Works to perform all maintenance and repairs on our fleet of ten sanitation vehicles, saving time and money by performing the work in house instead of using OUC's repair facilities. As per the attached data sheet, this lifting system is mobile and can be moved to any required location. This mobile lifting system is the first phase of growing Public Works into a full service fleet maintenance operation. Since this item is a capital purchase and part of the new Public Works facility, funds are available in the general construction fund. RECOMMENDATION: As this product is the only high capacity mobile lifting system available, and is available on SNAPS contract#075557, I respectfully request that the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners authorize the bid process be waived and the purchase authorized from ARI-HERTA Lifting Systems per the attached quote in the amount of$39,816.94.
