PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, every day in this country 100 babies die before they reach
their first birthday; and
WHEREAS, everyone can help reduce this tragic statistic by joining the
March of Dimes Campaign for Healthier Babies; and
WHEREAS, volunteerism is the cornerstone of our great nation; and
WHEREAS, the efforts of volunteers support research and educational
programs aimed at giving every baby a healthy start in life;
and
WHEREAS, April 27, 1996 is the date of the March of Dimes
WalkAmerica in Ocoee, encompassing all of West Orange
County; and
WHEREAS, two healthy Ocoee babies, Connor McGee Glass and Peyton
Graham Sorenson, are serving as chairbabies for the West
Orange WalkAmerica; and
WHEREAS, WalkAmerica is a grassroots campaign that needs you to
make it successful; and
WHEREAS, your dimes and dollars really can make a difference; and
WHEREAS, Chairbabies Glass and Sorenson, who cannot yet walk
themselves, ask you to walk for them, and they invite you to
do your part to make the West Orange WalkAmerica the
most successful campaign yet;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, S. Scott Vandergrift, Mayor of the City of Ocoee
Florida do hereby proclaim April 27, 1996 as
WALK FOR SOMEONE YOU LOVE DAY
in Ocoee and I urge all citizens to join the campaign for healthier babies and
support the West Orange WalkAmerica with enthusiasm and energy.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I hereunto have set my hand and caused the Seal
of the City of Ocoee, Florida to be affixed this 2nd day of April, 1996.
